Extra Curricular Activities

We offer a diverse and exciting range of clubs designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and encourage healthy minds and bodies. Whether pupils want to try something new, deepen existing skills, or connect with others, there’s something for everyone.

Sports and Physical Activity

Basketball Club
Dribble, pass, shoot—repeat! Pupils sharpen their skills while building teamwork, resilience, and fitness. This club also serves as a training ground for our school basketball team.

Football Club
Weekly sessions focus on both individual technique and team play. Pupils improve their ball control, spatial awareness, and tactical understanding—all while building self-confidence and a love of the game.

Gymnastics Club
Children explore movement through rolling, climbing, balancing, and jumping. Sessions focus on developing strength, flexibility, and creativity, with plenty of time for sequencing and performing routines.

Dodgeball Club
Fast-paced and full of fun, this club teaches pupils to dodge, duck, catch and throw—all while working as a team. A brilliant way to build agility, fitness, and quick-thinking skills.

Handball Club
An energetic introduction to one of Europe’s fastest-growing sports! Pupils practise throwing, catching, and shooting as they work toward scoring goals in a fast-paced, high-scoring game.

Netball/Benchball Club
From passing drills to small-sided games, pupils learn the fundamentals of netball in a friendly, inclusive environment. Teamwork and ball control are front and centre.

Cycling Club
With more than 15 BMX bikes and helmets available, children ride safely around our school grounds and learn basic bike maintenance—like fixing a puncture or adjusting brakes. It’s independence on wheels.

Yoga Club
Children explore movement through calming yoga postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness games, and light meditation. It’s a peaceful way to end the day and strengthen both body and mind.

Academic Support

Maths Tuition
Focused, small-group sessions for targeted Year 6 pupils to boost confidence and close gaps ahead of SATs.

SPAG Tuition
Support sessions in spelling, punctuation, and grammar for Year 6 pupils. These ensure pupils have the tools they need to write with precision and flair.

Leadership and Pupil Voice

School Council
Representatives from each class meet regularly with school leaders to discuss issues that matter to them. A real platform for change—and a powerful way to build citizenship and confidence.

Faith Council
Led by Mrs. Devi, the Faith Council is made up of one pupil from each year group. This group guides collective worship, helps plan religious events, and reflects deeply on how faith shapes life at St. Michael’s. Meetings encourage independent thinking, responsibility, and spiritual growth.

Eco Council
Our Eco Council leads our school’s sustainability efforts. Pupils are elected to champion environmental awareness and develop greener habits across the school community. From recycling initiatives and reducing waste to planting in our community allotment and promoting energy conservation, Eco Council members play a vital role in encouraging us all to take better care of our planet.

Young People’s Parliament
St. Michael’s proudly takes part in the Birmingham Young People’s Parliament—a platform where pupils debate and discuss real-world issues affecting children locally and nationally. Representatives work with peers from schools across the city to champion young voices and influence change. It’s a chance for our pupils to build confidence, develop their public speaking, and understand the power of civic engagement.

Family-Focused Clubs

Family Club
Parents and carers join their children for fun and relaxing creative activities—no booking needed. Sessions include crafting projects, friendly conversation, and refreshments.

Daily Enrichment

Breakfast Club
Open from 8:00–8:20am each morning and completely free of charge, this club gives children a healthy start to the day. With thanks to our partner Magic Breakfast, pupils enjoy cereal, bagels, fruit, and time to read, draw, or play games with friends in a welcoming environment.

Farm Club

Every day, Farm Club gives our pupils the unique opportunity to roll up their sleeves and experience the joy and responsibility of animal care. Children help look after our very own St. Michael’s farm residents—including Buster the Goat, Bumble the Rabbit, and a busy coop of hens and guinea pigs. From feeding and grooming to mucking out enclosures and collecting eggs, Farm Club members take genuine ownership of the farm’s upkeep. It’s a hands-on, heartwarming club that teaches empathy, commitment, and the satisfaction of hard work—while deepening children’s connection with the natural world.
